Hillel is the largest Jewish campus organization in the world.
Our mission: To encourage the maximum number of Jewish students to be proactive about their Judaism wherever they are located; to enrich student life with a meaningful Jewish experience so that students can continue to enrich the Jewish nation and the world.
In Israel: Israel Hillel applies Hillel’s vision and goals to the reality in Israel and the unique needs of Israeli students, new immigrants, and overseas students.
To Investigate Identity, to Search Out Meaning
Hillel gives students the opportunity to explore their Jewish identity, their relationship to tradition, heritage and Jewish culture, and to consciously choose a meaningful Jewish life.
We aspire to provide students the opportunity to investigate and celebrate their identity, to encourage them to be involved, to challenge students to investigate, learn and search, to choose what is meaningful within Judaism; to feel pride and love in their heritage.
Secular, Religious, Ultra-Orthodox? Orthodox, Conservative, Reform…?
“Judaism belongs to every Jew.” The Hillel House in Israel has a pluralistic and broad vision of Judaism that is nonrestrictive. Hillel members respect the Jewish perspective of the student and have no interest in trying to move the student from his/her “place.” Rather, Hillel is there to awaken the student to ask what his place is and to allow him to create a place for the Jewish perspective in his life. The Israel Hillel organization is not directly connected to any religious or political institution and therefore provides students with a safe and comfortable environment to connect to their Judaism.
Hillel Allows Each Individual to Walk His Own Path
Every student is invited to choose the path that is right for him, whether it is through community service projects, tikkun olam (repairing the world), or social justice, through artistic self-expression, participating in social gatherings, or connecting through informal study of Judaism.
Throughout the year we offer cultural programs, plays, movies, concerts and performances, workshops, and meetings in the university and community. Every student is entitled to participate in Hillel’s activities…
